Super Rugby Finals: How it all stacks up

Here we go, the Super Rugby Finals Series is now upon us. Following the completion of the regular season, we now have the final six teams confirmed.

1. Reds

2. Stormers

3. Crusaders

4. Blues

5. Waratahs

6. Sharks

And here is how the finals series is set to play out.

Week 1

Game 1

Date: Friday 24 June 2011

Teams: Blues (4th) vs Waratahs (5th)

Venue: Eden Park, Auckland

Kick-Off: 7:35pm

Note: The Waratahs and Sharks finished the regular season with 57 points and 10 victories each. The Waratahs ranked in fifth place due to their superior points for and against differential.

Game 2

Date: Saturday 25 June 2011

Teams: Crusaders (3rd – NZ Conference winners) vs Sharks (6th)

Venue: Trafalgar Park, Nelson

Kick-Off: 7:35pm

The Reds and Stormers are rewarded with a week off after finishing first and second respectively.

The winners will advance to the take on the Reds and Stormers at home.

Week 2

The Reds are most likely to take on the winner of the Blues v Waratahs game only because I can’t see the Sharks beating the Crusaders at home. This would mean that the Crusaders would travel to Cape Town to take on the Stormers at home in the other semi-final.
